This atlas is the result of a long-term survey of wild orchid sites in Normandy. It draws on nearly 30,000 records, the oldest of which date back to the 19th century, whilst the most recent were collected up to the end of the 2013 season. For each of the forty-seven species found in Normandy, their description, ecology and distribution are described in detail.

This new atlas breaks new ground by showing the presence of each species on a map at the local authority level. Each of these orchids is illustrated with photographs taken in the field by members of the ‘Normandy’ regional group of the French Orchid Society. A watercolour by the Italian artist Lorenzo Dotti completes the portrait of each one.
